On 24 July 2014, Humza Yousaf MSP, Scottish Minister for External Affairs and International Development, hosted the launch of a major UN initiative that aims to ensure sustainable energy for all by 2030. Held to coincide with the start of the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the European launch of the Decade for Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) brought together representatives of government, businesses, academia and civil society from across the Commonwealth countries, and the discussion panel included the CEO of Practical Action, the Rwandan High Commissioner to the UK, and Ian Marchant, Chair of Scotland’s 2020 Climate Group.
It was certainly an enlightening afternoon of discussion on what SE4All can achieve in the coming decade to improve energy access, use of renewables, and improve efficiency. We were invited to put a short video together to play during the break, see below. In it are a few MREAP projects that we’ve documented to date.
